John Hartford: Tunes From His Mentors and His Mind

**John Hartford Tunes will be offered as a 6-week online course using the platform Zoom. Instructions for using Zoom will be sent upon registration**

Look deeper into your own fiddling expression by studying and appreciating the unique artistry of John Hartford. We’ll gather some goodies from the boatload of fiddle tunes recorded or written by Hartford. He was devoted to his Missouri mentors, and he also made a remarkable album in tribute to West Virginia fiddler, Ed Haley. And then there is the remarkable catalog of his own tunes… you’ll surely add some fantastic tunes to your own collection.

And hey! Mandolin players are welcome to join too. The tunes will be taught on fiddle, but if you’ve already played fiddle tunes on the mandolin, you’ll know how to interpret bowings.

Note: For this class, we will only play in standard tuning, and will not include any alternately tuned (cross-tuned) material.

Class level: Intermediate or beyond is ideal. If you feel you are nearly at an intermediate level, you will get a lot out of this class too.
