The mandolin is a most versatile folk instrument and appears in many styles of music: bluegrass, irish, old-time, jazz, blues, jug band, swing, classical, and yes, even rock. With it's violin tuning, it is perfect for picking out melodies and improvisation and can also add rhythm to any ensemble. Great for beginning instrumentalists or experienced players. In our mandolin classes you'll learn how to pick out a tune, how to play chords and provide rhythm, and how to improvise. Look for occasional advanced classes that focus on particular genres and plan to join Ensemble 1 once you've completed the first three levels.
